I spend a lot of time watching Food Network, and LOVE Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives with Guy Fieri. It is so much fun seeing what unique food is being made, and a lot of it might be closer than you thought. A lot of Guy's "Flavor Town ambassadors" call the Twin Cities area home. Here are 10 places from our state that have been featured on the Food Network show.

1. The Nook - St. Paul

Featured on the second season of Triple D, the Nook was a story of getting back on the horse after you fall off. It was reopened after a fire burned down the restaurant, and they are known for serving up some amazing stuffed burgers.

2. Kramarczuk Sausage Company - Minneapolis

Showcased on a family eating episode in 2010, this place serves up Eastern European comfort food. Everything from sandwiches, to stews, cabbage rolls to pierogies, and it is all made from scratch.

3. Blue Door Pub - St. Paul

Also featured on Andrew Zimmern's Bizarre Foods America, this is a burger joint stuffing double patties with everything from cheese to short ribs. Their stuffed burgers are aptly named "Blucy's", and there is even a challenge around them to win a shirt.

4. Nye's Bar - Minneapolis

Claiming a perfect 10 score, and also featured on Best Bars in America this nationally-acclaimed piano bar is known for its eclectic mix of polka and pierogies.

5. Pizzeria Lola - Minneapolis

Serving up wonderfully weird pizzas, Pizzeria Lola was featured on an All Stars episode of DDD. One of their specials is a BEETZA made of red and golden beets, caramelized onions, arugula, and pickled mustard seeds.

6. Surly Brewing Company - Minneapolis

Featured on a 2016 show all about Brews and Chews, this stop gave us a taste of pulled pork and a killer brisket sandwich. They also have a unique pizza menu.

7. The Herbivorous Butcher - Minneapolis

What makes this butcher shop unique is that you won't find any meat in it. Everything they feature at their deli is made of only vegan ingredients. In addition to their brick and mortar location, they also run a vegan food truck.

8. Gordy's Hi-Hat - Cloquet

Hand pattied hamburgers, hand-battered Alaskan fish, homemade onion rings, and fresh blended malts all call Gordy's menu home. THhey are open seasonally from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The typical Minnesota summer.

9. George and the Dragon - Minneapolis

Not your typical fusion, this restaurant serves an English-Filipino mashup. Their signatures are their bomb bahn mi and bacon onion dip. They also try to source their ingredients as locally as possible.

10. Northern Waters Smokehouse - Duluth

Featured on an episode titled Fast Food Their Way, Northern Waters Smokehouse in Duluth is known for their smoked Lake Superior Whitefish. They also have a deli where they make sandwiches from their various smoked meats and fish.

How many of these places have you been to yourself? Maybe it is time to try a new place.
