Have you ever had a Secret Santa that gave you the absolute best gifts?  If so, you are lucky, because there are a bunch of Secret Santas out there that seem to be shopping from the "Do Not Buy" list.

I know our work world and life with our friends looks a bit different this year due to COVID-19, but thanks to online delivery and local companies that have great websites and curbside pickup, the fun tradition of Secret Santa can still continue on...even in a pandemic.

If you've ever played this fun game, you know that it can be risky to get a name of someone that you don't really know and try to take a stab in the dark at what they might like for a gift.  The help everyone enjoy the fun, here are a few suggestions if you are planning on keeping with the tradition of Secret Santa this year:

  • Ask people what they like.  When asking people if they want to join in on the fun, also have them fill out a list indicating where they enjoy eating, what their favorite activity is, or if they have a sweet tooth, what their favorite candy might be.  You know, questions like that to help you learn a bit more about them.
  • Shop local.  Now more than ever, it is vital to search those local websites for deals and help the businesses in our community.
  • Avoid buying any item on the "Absolute Worst" list.  The Body Shop did a survey and found out that there are 15 items that people keep buying for their Secret Santa that the gift receivers are not happy about.  You can see the full list below.
