1860’s Vintage Baseball Comes To Chatfield

This event sounds like so much fun.  As part of the Chatfield Western Days 50 Anniversary Celebration, a vintage baseball game is on the agenda.  Groen Park sets the scene Sunday August 13 at 2 p.m. as the Lanesboro Excelsiors take on the Twin Cities Quicksteps.

It's my understanding that the game is played following rules from the 1860's including the pitcher delivering the ball underhanded.  And the uniforms!  Seeing the uniforms is worth the trip.  I know a couple of Excelsiors players, Chatfield resident Paul Cousineau and KFIL's own Ben Aberg.

If you plan to head to the game, take lawn chairs or blankets as no seating is available.  I hope to make it to cheer on Paul and Ben as well as take some photos that I'll share with you afterward.  Gooo Excelsiors!
