St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - State health officials are advising that anyone who attended the campaign rally in Duluth or other events associated with President Trump's visit to Minnesota on Wednesday should consider being tested for COVID-19.
The recommendation says anyone with symptoms should be tested immediately and those without symptoms should get tested 5-7 days after the event and then retested around 12 days after the event. State health officials note community transmission of the virus was high in the Duluth area prior to the campaign rally and people at the event may have already been infectious without realizing it.
The Health Department says anyone who had direct contact with the president or unknown COVID-19 case, needs to quarantine for two weeks and undergo testing for the infection. A number of prominent Minnesota Republicans are included in that group. First District Congressman Jim Hagedorn, along with Congressmen Tom Emmer and Pete Stauber were on board Air Force One as it flew the president back to Washington from Duluth. Several others, including the Republican leaders of the State House and Senate, attended a private fundraiser where President Trump made an appearance late Wednesday afternoon.
Congressmen Hagedorn, Emmer, and Stauber all issued statements this afternoon indicating they had been tested for COVID-19 today and the results were negative for the virus.
