The fun is set to come to Pine Island as the city recently approved for a new brewery and taproom to open.

Tessa Leung and Ann Fahy--Gust outlined a plan for the Pine Island City Council to change the old Pine Island Cheese Mart into a taproom and brewery, according to the Post Bulletin. South by Southeast will look to bring a great atmosphere to southeast Minnesota spring/summer of 2020.

According to the brewery's website, they want to provide great beer and service to the area, at a beautiful location. Here is a quick "about" section from their website.

"Our vision is simple; provide excellent craft beer and service to Southeastern Minnesota and offer a beautiful family-friendly taproom and event area for guests.
South by Southeast Brewing seeks to fill the regional brewing gap by providing a rural ambiance and flavor while delivering on the promise of being the regional brewing representative. Our flagship products – Blonde Ale, Golden Ale, Red Ale, Light Amber Ale, Scottish Ale and Stout along with four seasonal beers – Spring – Maibock, Summer – Light, Fall – Golden Brown, Winter – Spicy Winter Warmer will fill the needs of the SEMN area restaurants, caterers and off sale markets by being consistently available, of high quality and craft beer affordable."

Fahy-Gust is a retired brewmaster with over 30 years of brewing with some of the industry's biggest names like Coors, Guinness and Scottish Courage. Leung is a business owner, restauranteur with over 20 years of experience in retail food service and business including catering and fine dining.
