Annual Rochester Hangar Dance is Saturday Night
The Rochester Airport will be swinging to the sounds of big band music Saturday night for the third annual Rochester Hangar Dance.
The Rochesterfest event, which is a fundraiser for the Minnesota Veterans and Emergency Services Museum, will take place in Hangar C in the general aviation area of the airport beginning at 5:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be available after the doors open, with free swing dance lessons from the Dahl Dance Center starting at 6:30.
An opening ceremony is planned at 7 o’clock, followed by the dance with music by the Generation II Big Band from 7:30 until 10:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the best 1940’s era outfits in several categories. Vintage airplanes, vehicles, and military gear will also be on display throughout the entire event.
Tickets are $20 dollars and can be purchased at the door, or by visiting the Minnesota Veterans and Emergency Services Museum (MVSEM.org) website.
The Hangar Dance will coincide with a fly-in by the Minnesota Wing of the Commemorative Air Force. The group is bringing four “warbirds” to the Rochester Airport for viewing and rides beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Viewing the B-25 “Miss Mitchell," along a BT-13, L-5 and PT-22 will be free, while rides will be available for purchase all day. For more information, visit www.cafmn.org.
