Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – Another round of thunderstorms - and rain - moved into southeast Minnesota early Saturday.

A line of strong storms developed across Dodge County around sunrise and produced heavy rain as it moved east into Olmsted County.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse issued a flash flood warning for both counties at 7:00 AM, reporting “ up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.” A flash flood watch will be in effect for all of southeast Minnesota through 7:00 PM Saturday.

According to the Weather Service:

“ Several rounds of heavy rain will move through southeast Minnesota and from southwest into central Wisconsin. This rain will be falling onto saturated soils. As a result, this rain will quickly runoff into rivers and streams resulting in flash flooding. In addition, there will be the potential of street and other urban flooding. Mud and rock slides will be possible in bluff areas.”

Heavy rain has been common across the region the last few weeks, leading to widespread flooding problems and damage. But the current forecast calls for dry weather during the coming week.
