The Caledonia Warriors and Dover-Eyota Eagles were in a big-time battle. The #13 seeded Dover-Eyota Eagles were looking to find another upset in the Section 1AA Tournament, while #1 seeded and top-ranked Caledonia was looking to continue to their run toward another state tournament.

The Warriors used a big 18-0 run in the first half to build their lead and eventually come away with a 100-84 win the Section 1AA Semifinals.

Austin Klug was great out of the gate for Caledonia and really sparked their offense in the first half. He scored the first eight points for the Warriors and started an 18-0 run that helped Caledonia get a quick 24-6 lead.

The Eagles were able to battle back behind some stellar play from Brady Williams, but the Warriors were too much to handle in the first half and took a 56-39 lead into the break.

Dover-Eyota was not going away without a fight. The Eagles were able to find their rythem in the second-half, behind Williams and Logan Riley and cut the Warriors lead down to 10.

Caledonia then went on a run of their own behind some great defense with Eli King, Klug and Noah King scoring in the second half to push the lead back up. Then, the Warriors found themselves in some foul trouble, the Eagles took advantage and cut the lead down to 8 with just under five minutes to go.

Sam Privet and Klug each hit huge 3-pointers to secure the victory for the Warriors and a date with the Stewartville Tigers in the Section 1AA title game Thursday night at 8 p.m.

Williams had 31 to lead Dover-Eyota in what was an incredible performance in a great atmosphere. Riley was great, too, finishing with 24 points.

Klug had 22 to lead Caledonia, Eli King added 20, Noah King had 18 and Privet had 17.

It was a very entertaining, fast-paced game that saw the Warriors take control in the early going and eventually hold on to the big 100-84 win.
