The Caledonia Warriors started the game on a 23-8 run, setting themselves up for the 64-48 victory over the Rushford-Peterson Trojans in Rushford last night on KFIL.

The Warriors did a great job of generating turnovers; keeping their hands in passing lanes and attacking the basket. Caledonia used their size to their advantage, as they were able to gather up offensive rebounds early, to jump out to the lead.

Katie Tornstrom was a force for the Warriors early, she was grabbing rebounds, and had 10 first-half points. Mariah Schroeder had 12 first-half points, doing most of her damage in transition, getting to the basket and also creating opportunities for teammates.

The Trojans were not going to be outdone, as Brianna Koop did a phenomenal job of getting to the free-throw line, where she registered 11 of her game-high 22 points. She collected 14 points in the first half.

The Warriors lead was 45-22 at the half, and then they started the second half on a 7-1 run to extend their lead to 52-23. Rushford-Peterson was then able to go on a 12-0 run, capped off by a Savannah Skalet, who finished with 11 points, three-pointer to make it 52-35.

The Warriors were able to weather the storm, and ride out the rest of the second-half to a 64-48 victory.

The Trojans played much better in the second half, as they were moving the ball much better, and go more open looks near the basket, and outside the three-point line. Overall, it was a tough night shooting, but they improved  as the game went on.

It was a game with a high pace, players diving for loose basketballs, and playing with energy.
