Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An occupant of the apartment was treated at the scene for a minor injury and the driver was taken to St. Marys Hospital for an evaluation after a car smashed into a northwest Rochester apartment building Sunday morning.

The Rochester Fire Department was called to the Village at Essex Townhomes in the 1000 block of 41st Street Northwest around 11:20 AM after the car crashed through an exterior wall and into a bedroom of a first-floor apartment. A news release says the occupants of the apartment were in the adjacent living room area and suffered minor injuries caused by flying debris.

The fire department says the occupants of the apartment and the people living in the second-floor apartment above were evacuated until the damage to the building can be repaired. The Rochester Chapter of the Red Cross assisted in providing them temporary housing.

A witness reported a woman was driving the car. Her name information about her medical condition have not been released.

It’s not known if there were any injuries when a car crashed into a Rochester apartment building Sunday morning.

A witness reported a woman was driving the car, which ended up almost completely inside one of the apartment buildings at the Village of Essex Townhomes complex along 41st Street Northwest. The witness indicated the crash occurred around 11:20 AM.

Rochester Police, the Fire Department, and a crew from Mayo Clinic ambulance responded to the scene. Additional information is expected to be released Monday morning.
