Friday night was a wild on on KFIL. The Lewiston-Altura Cardinals left town with a 47-45 win over the Rushford-Peterson Trojans.

The early going saw a lot of back and forth, with the Trojan defense forcing turnovers, but the Cardinals answering with rebounds to make up for it. There were four ties and 5 lead changes in the first half. R-P ended the half on a 5-0 run for a 23-19 lead at the break. Ben Oevering led the way for L-A with 6 points at the break; Noah Carlson led R-P with 10 at halftime.

R-P Parents Night
loading...

It was Parents Night before the game, and during halftime we had a musical chairs event as part of Cancer Awareness Night. One fun thing about that was when three basketballs got stuck in the net. AD Dan Bieberdorf knocked the basketballs loose to continue on.

To start the second half.the lead was cut into, and we were tied again at 24-24! Rushford-Peterson went on a 6-0 run, and then later held their largest lead at 33-26. Lewiston-Altura was down by 4 before, then soon was up by for 4 after their 8-0 run. A big three-pointer from Landon Skalet made it a one-point game again, but the Trojans would get no closer. A blocked shot here, a couple long passes down low, and despite a buzzer beater from R-P, the visiting Cardinals held on for a 47-45 win.

KFIL Subway Player of the Game for the Rushford-Peterson Trojans was Jacob Paulson. The Trojans junior got the ball inside as the game went on, scoring 11 of his 19 points in the second half, and he shot 5/5 from the free throw line.

KFIL Subway Player of the Game for the Lewiston-Altura Cardinals was Ben Oevering. Ben scored 13 points, and was 7 of 10 from the free throw line-all those points counted in this close one tonight.

The Kingsley Mercantile Game Ball is Bradley Miller's. Miller got a big blocked shot late, and scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half, including a couple open jumpers, and the layup to put L-A up by 4.
