Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Department of Transportation has started the process of replacing city highway signs across southeastern Minnesota to reflect the updated population numbers compiled during the 2020 US Census.

Throughout the 11 county region managed by the MnDOT District 6 headquarters in Rochester, new overlays with the new population figures are being added to 209 existing signs and three other signs are being replaced.  A news release says the updates took place today in Rochester, Byron, and Stewartville.

MnDOT says to expect the process to continue through the summer. Motorists are urged to slow down and "move over if it is safe to do so" when they encounter one of the sign crews.
