Charges – Rochester Man Followed Teenager and Entered Her Home
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Conditional bail was set at $100,000 today for a Rochester man accused of terrifying a young woman.
31-year-old Martin Danielson is accused of following the 19-year-old woman home from a park and then entering her family's home while she was hiding in the garage. He was charged today with first-degree burglary and a gross misdemeanor count of harassment.
The criminal complaint says Rochester police responded to a call from a northwest Rochester home Thursday evening and found the young woman distraught and crying. She told the officers she was walking in her neighborhood when she saw a man staring at her from a distance. While she was talking on her cell phone, she noticed the man had closed the distance between them to about 30 yards and would walk faster when she sped up and slowed down when she slowed her pace.
When she reached her family's home, the victim says she ran inside the open garage and hid behind her parents' car. She then saw the man walk past the garage to the front door of the house. The charges allege he entered the home without ringing or knocking and ran away after he was confronted by the victim's father inside the front entrance.
A description provided by the father led to Danielson's arrest. The court document says he was found near his vehicle which was parked in another location in the same neighborhood.
