Chatfield’s Community and Economic Development Associates Lands $165,000 Grant

MnDEED awarded $2.7 million in business development grants, and one Chatfield group landed a nice sum of money to help grow local businesses.

According to a release from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), they annouced the grants on Friday, Sept 27th as they awarded $2.7 million to 13 nonprofit groups that "provide services and technical assistance to emerging businesses and entrepreneurs in Minnesota."

The Business Development Competitive Grant Program, which was approved in the 2019 legislative sessions, provides funds to groups that offer bsuienss assistance to targeted groups including women, minorities, rural residents and technology-based companies in the state.

“One of Minnesota’s strongest assets is its diverse economy,” said DEED Commissioner Steve Grove. “We need to support businesses of all sizes, all across the state, in order to keep that economy competitive.”

The group from Chatfield - Community and Economic Development Associates - was awarded $165,000 as the group plans to implement the Harness and Harvets program, according to the release.

"This group will implement the Harness and Harvest program to provide business training and technical assistance to agriculture-related businesses in rural areas in Southern Minnesota."
