Stewartville, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s office is investigating an unusual theft that may have involved a “sticky rat trap.”

The reported theft happened earlier this week at the Bremer Bank office in Stewartville.

Capt. Scott Behrns says a woman contacted the bank after discovering her deposit was not recorded in her account. She made two deposits totaling $1,000 earlier in the week. After the woman contacted the bank Wednesday, employees checked the deposit box and found evidence of a sticky rat trap that was used by the thief.

Behrns says he later learned this type of theft has been reported elsewhere.
