We get a lot of snow in the wintertime here in Minnesota. Typically it feels like at least a few times each winter the city will announce a snow emergency. But there's one Minnesota town that has NEVER issued a snow emergency. That town is Duluth, Minnesota.

Crazy, right? Duluth, the largest town in northern Minnesota, has never, in its 165-year history, issued a snow emergency, according to Bring Me the News. But why?

It seems as though they just never had the signs or the system set up to declare a snow emergency. They have rules set up for winter parking and things like that, they just never used the term "snow emergency". But now there are signs that were put up over the summer, 2,200 signs to be exact, in order to prepare to declare their first-ever snow emergency sometime this winter.

In a press release from the City of Duluth, they write that the signs will allow them to create snow emergency routes on roads and also make it known to residents that there is a snow emergency in effect.

I can't believe that Duluth, the 4th largest city in the state, has never issued a snow emergency before. On average Duluth gets 86.1 inches of snow every winter according to the National Weather Service and they are just now implementing the ability to declare a snow emergency.
