St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The federal government has boosted Minnesota's allotment of COVID-19 vaccine by several hundred thousand doses.

The State Health Department says the total number of doses currently promised to Minnesota by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now exceeds 871,000. The state, so far, has been shipped over 522,000 doses and just under 40-percent of those doses have been used. The most recent tally shows over 214,000 Minnesotans have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while the total in Olmsted County is getting close to 20,000.

The Minnesota Department of Health today reported 21 additional coronavirus related deaths. Two of them involved residents of Goodhue County and another involved a Fillmore County resident.

Just over 1500 new COVID-19 infections were reported statewide today with 63 new cases reported in Olmsted County. The daily testing total was over 39,600 and the daily testing positivity rate was below 4 percent for a second straight day at about 3.8 percent.
