Floodwaters Have Receded From Highway 63 at Zumbro Falls
Zumbro Falls, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Department of Transportation’s MN511 website is indicating Highway 63 has reopened at Zumbro Falls.
The well-traveled connection between Rochester and the Mississippi River was barricaded in both directions this morning when the surge of water from Friday’s deluge moved through Wabasha County. At its peak, the Zumbro River rose to nearly 10-feet above flood stage in Zumbro Falls. The water levels have since dropped from major flood stage into the minor flood stage and are now predicted to fall below flood stage Sunday evening.
In Pine Island, where the river caused significant flooding on Friday, the Zumbro is forecast to fall below flood stage Saturday night. Significant flooding also occurred along Lake Zumbro Friday night and Saturday. The crest was nearly 4-feet over flood stage, but the river has now receded to the minor flooding stage and should return to its banks by the middle of next week.
