Football Team’s Heartfelt Tribute to Cheerleader With Leukemia Is Simply Wonderful
Forget about what happened on the field -- it's what the football team did before the game that has people talking.
Every football player for Foothill High School, in Palo Cedro, Calif. placed an orange rose at the foot of cheerleader Ashley Adamietz as they ran onto the field prior to last week's game. Adamietz is battling leukemia and orange is the color for leukemia awareness.
Ashley, a senior, has been undergoing chemotherapy since she was diagnosed last month.
Foothill football coach Joey Brown summed up the gesture nicely by saying, "We took care of family business, before we took care of business on the field."
As for Ashley, she says she was “shocked, overwhelmed and speechless" by the team's actions. She also tweeted, "I don't know where I'd be without the support of my family, friends and most importantly, my school."
