Former Rochester Man Admits to Assault on Girl He Met Online

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former Rochester man accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl today entered into a plea agreement just as his trial was getting underway in Olmsted County court.
Jury selection began yesterday for the trial of 27-year-old Kody Wollschlager on third-degree and fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct charges. Today, he admitted to the fifth-degree charge, which is a gross misdemeanor. The other charge, which is a felony offense, was dropped.
Wollschlager, who now has a LeRoy address, was arrested last July after the juvenile victim reported that she had been sexually assaulted by a man that she had met online and had been exchanging messages with for several weeks. The girl told Olmsted County Sheriff's Office investigators that she and a friend accompanied Wollschlager to a residence in New Haven Township where she indicated the assault occurred.
The criminal complaint stated that Wollschlager initially denied touching the victim but later gave a statement largely consistent with the juvenile girl's version of the events. He is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday afternoon.
