Fundraiser Started for Boy Thrown From Third Floor of MOA
Bloomington, MN (KROC AM News) - A fundraising effort has been started for the family of a young boy who suffered life-threatening injuries after police say he “may have been pushed or thrown from the third floor” of the Mall of America.
The Bloomington Police Dept. was notified around 10:15 AM Friday. The department says the 5-year-old boy “was treated at the scene and then transported by ambulance to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.” As of noon Saturday, there was no word about his medical condition. Police would only say he is still alive. It's estimated he fell about 40 feet.
Police arrested a man suspected of being involved. He is being held on an attempted murder charge. Bloomington police investigators believe the man threw the boy over the protective rail. It's also believed the man did not know the boy or his family.
A close friend of the boy’s family established a GoFundMe site Saturday morning and nearly $5,000 had been raised in the first hour. Donations soared to nearly $40,000 an hour later.
