After initially announcing that he was forgoing this season because of personal health concerns related to COVID-19, University of Minnesota receiver Rashod Bateman's eligibility was resorted by the NCAA and he will now compete with the Gopher Football team this season.

According to a press release from Gopher Athletics, Bateman will wear No.0 this season, becoming the first Gopher to ever wear the number. The switch from No. 13 to No. 0 is because there is zero-tolerance for racism in Minnesota's culture, and is a call to action to end racism in our society.

Bateman has played in 26 games for Minnesota in his two years and has already established himself as one of the best to play receiver for the Gophers. He is 12th in school history with 111 career catches, tied for eighth in school history with 1,923 yards, and tied for fifth in school history with 17 touchdowns. He has caught a pass in every game he has played in.

Bateman was named Third-Team All-American last season, All-Big Ten First Team, and was the Big Ten Receiver of the Year as a sophomore. Last season, Bateman finished the year with 60 catches for 1,219 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The Georgia native has seven 100-yard receiving games, which is sixth in school history, and he set a school sophomore record for receiving yards in a season at 1,219 and touchdowns with 11 last season.
