The Grand Meadow Superlarks are making their first trip to the state tournament since 2016 when they capped off their fourth straight state title. This year, the Superlarks are looking to get back to the top but may face their toughest test yet.

At one point this season, the Superlarks were ranked number 1 in the state. Since their loss to LeRoy-Ostrander in week 3, Grand Meadow never found their way back into the rankings.

The Superlarks though have not even thought about the rankings, and have now won eight games in a row. After a 35-0 win over Houston in the Section 1 9-man final, the Grand Meadow Superlarks will now face the team that overtook the number 1 ranking after they dropped from it, Mountain Lake Area.

The champions of Section 3 were runners up in the 9-an tournament to Spring Grove last season, and have been a perennial power in 9-man football for years. The Superlarks last played Mountain Lake Area in the 2013 state quarterfinals, where the Superlarks won 35-18.

The Wolverines bring their perfect 11-0 record to Austin, and the Wolverines can do it all. Mountain Lake Area averages over 50 points per game, and allows just over 11. It will be a tough matchup, and maybe the toughest one yet for the Superlarks. It will be a great matchup on Friday night and should make for some great football.

You will be able to catch the action on FUN 104.3/103.1 KFIL as the Superlarks look to add another trophy to the case. Stay tuned for the latest details and playoff coverage.
