Grand Meadow Storms Back To Top LeRoy-Ostrander
The Grand Meadow Superlarks were on fire in the second half and were able to make a big push to come back and beat the LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals 74-62 in Grand Meadow Tuesday night.
The Superlarks trailed by 13 at the break, and their top scorer of the first half, Colt Landers, was out with foul trouble in the second half. It looked like it was going to be a long way uphill for Grand Meadow, who struggled against a Cardinals defense that was swarming them.
Enter Alex Funk.
Funk had a solid first half, but exploded in the second half and led the Superlarks on a run that the Cardinals just couldn't match. Funk hit 5 3-pointers on the night to finish with 34 points and lead the Superlarks to the win.
Grand Meadow also got key shots from Wesley Freund and Ben Kraft to finally give the Superlarks the lead with 4:48 to play, 58-57. Landers entered the game late and was able to help the Superlarks close things out in exciting fashion, turning up the heat on defense and closing down on LeRoy-Ostrander's Trey Hungerholt who was fantastic all night.
Hungerholt led the Cardinals with 22 points, while Riley Olson and Dakota Stoopes added 13 and Chase Johnson added 12.
Hungerholt was great for LeRoy-Ostrander. He was able to get in the lane and share the basketball, getting teammates open looks early, and when needed, he was able to work the ball in transition and get easy looks near the rim.
Funk and company were just too much to overcome as the Superlarks were able to get the win 74-62. Landers added 18 points in the win.
