The Houston Hurricanes had a fast start, and they were able to hold off Fillmore Central's late push in a fast-paced battle Tuesday night in Preston with an 85-73 win.

Houston jumped out to a 12-0 lead to start the game and carried a 49-34 lead into the break. Mikkel Schutte had 20 in the first half for Houston while Haidyn Gunderson had 17 to pace Fillmore Central.

Houston made a big push out of the second half and jumped up to a 65-44 lead with about 10 minutes to go. Fillmore Central made a late push that saw the lead get cut down to nine, 79-70, with one minute to play. The Hurricanes were able to close it out at the free-throw line to get the 85-73 win.

The Hurricanes did a great job of moving the job in transition, utilizing long passes and up-tempo attack to build an early lead on Fillmore Central. The Falcons were able to make a push late in this game, forcing turnovers and working quickly in transition as their token to start their comeback. The came up just short.

Schutte finished with 28, while Alex Van Gundey added 29 to lead Houston, while Caiden Danielson had 18. Gunderson led Fillmore Central with 30, while Carson Kiehne added 12, Zach Haugerud 11 and 10 for Corey Brown.

Houston moved to 12-8 with the win while Fillmore Central fell to 3-13 with the loss.
