Investigation Underway After Inmate Found Dead at Anoka County Jail
Anoka, MN (KROC-AM News) - An investigation is underway after an inmate was found dead in his cell at the Anoka County Jail.
According to a news release from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, detention deputies at the jail noticed an unresponsive male inmate in his cell just after 1:00 a.m. Thursday.
Officials said that staff immediately requested assistance from EMS and began administering life-saving measures.
The life-saving efforts were unsuccessful and the inmate was pronounced dead at the scene.
“This is a tragic situation in which we anxiously await the results of the investigation and the report from the medical examiner. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family during this difficult time,” Anoka County Sheriff James Stuart said.
Authorities said, as per protocol, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation with the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
