Police Investigate Fatal Shooting in North Minneapolis Apartment

Minneapolis, MN (MinnesotaNow)-- Minneapolis police are working to unravel the events surrounding a fatal shooting that claimed a man’s life late Thursday night in the city’s North Side.

MPD says Officers responded to the 1100 block of James Avenue North just after 10:30 p.m. on January 9, following reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered a man with gunshot wounds inside an apartment building. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary details suggest the victim was inside the building when someone fired at him before fleeing. Investigators are working to piece together what led to the shooting, urging anyone with information to come forward.

“This is a tragedy for the victim’s family and our community,” said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara. “We are fully committed to finding answers and ensuring justice is served.”

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the victim's identity is pending release by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
