The estimated Powerball jackpot on Monday, October 9th was $1.55 billion, so there was obviously a lot of excitement heading into the drawing. Once the Powerball numbers were announced, that excitement only continued to grow.

The winning Powerball numbers on Monday were 16-34-46-55-67, with the Powerball number 14. The Power Play was 3x. Those numbers were profitable for several winners in Minnesota, but nobody in the country won the jackpot.

According to the Minnesota Lottery, Minnesota had one winner Monday who won $50,000. That means they matched 4 out of 5 white numbers while also matching the Powerball number.

That winning ticket, which was just one number away from winning $1.55 billion, was sold at the Holiday Station Store, 12970 Lake Boulevard in Lindstrom.

As of Wednesday morning, the Minnesota Lottery showed that Monday's winnings were unclaimed, which brings the total amount of Powerball winnings unclaimed in Minnesota up to a whopping $700,000.

  • $150,000 Power Play - Winners Corner, 1594 Hastings Avenue in Newport (October 7, 2023)

It's important to note that after one year, winnings can no longer be claimed and the money goes into Minnesota's General Fund, the state government's main operating fund.

We may never know who all these lucky winners are unless they decide to come forward publicly. Lottery regulation changes took place to protect winners who win over $10,000. Big-money winners can become targets for scammers and fraud, so the Minnesota Lottery will not divulge their name unless they first agree to it.

So, now we all have a shot at the Powerball jackpot on Wednesday, October 11, which has climbed to an estimated $1.73 billion, which is the second-largest Powerball jackpot ever! Powerball drawings take place at 9:59 p.m. CST on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

If you want to take a shot at all that cash, remember the cutoff to purchase your Powerball tickets is 9:00 p.m. on the days of the drawings.
