Everyone’s Now Invited To Join Duluth’s Annual Rose Tipping Event
It's time for an annual Northland tradition to return that is not only a great way to spend time with your family and community but it could also provide an opportunity to dispose of the fall leaves that you've raked and bagged.
Rose tipping, also known as the Minnesota Tip Method is a technique for protecting roses from harsh winter conditions.
According to the University of Minnesota, this tip method, which involves burying roses in a shallow trench for the winter, was developed in Minnesota and inspired by a French horticultural practice used to protect tender fruits.
Now, you'll have the opportunity to get outdoors and help protect roses in Duluth.

It's important to note that due to new matting being used to winterize the roses, there is a limited need for bagged leaves. Once they have enough bags collected, the City will close the drop-off site, so you may want to drive by ahead of time to make sure leaves are still needed before you load time into your vehicle.
