The scammers create urgency by saying that payment is due and requests it be paid out via wire transfer. The scammers then ask you to reply and attach a copy of the receipt.
What To Do If You Get This Fake Phishing Email
Officials remind locals that they will never ask you for an urgent payment or large payment via wire transfer. They also won't ask for any payments via email.
As always, if you get an email or text that seems off, hang up and reach out to the organization directly or do a quick Google search. Usually, you can tell if something is a scam.
