National Weather Service Duluth: Bitter Cold To End 2025
If you've been thinking to yourself that this has been a pretty intense winter so far, you'd be right! That's probably because the past few winters in the Northland have been pretty mild.
So far, we've had one major snowstorm (our first of the season!) over Thanksgiving weekend of course. From there, we've seen a few other storms. While they haven't dumped as much snow as the first one, they've been enough to make for dangerous travel conditions.

In fact, just this weekend we saw a winter storm that caused very icy roads. Pairing the light snow with strong winds and travel was downright dangerous across Minnesota.
Now, we have something else we have to prepare for as we round out the new year: cold temperatures! 2026 is not coming in hot, pun intended.
National Weather Service Of Duluth Shares End-Of-Year Forecast
You better bundle up because according to the National Weather Service of Duluth, we are going to end the year on a very cold note. They shared an outlook early Tuesday (December 30th) which spans the next eight to fourteen days.

They shared high temperatures for the rest of the week and into the weekend. Duluth will see single digits and low teens into the end of 2025. The good news is that as we roll into the first few days of 2026, things will warm up slightly into the upper teens and low 20s.
Of course, we have to factor in wind chill, which means it will feel even colder. Lows will be in the single digits to twenty below. Factoring in wind chill, it will feel as cold as twenty to thirty-five degrees below.
YIKES! Maybe Mother Nature is trying to toughen us up before it gets even colder in 2026 but I am not going to let my mind go there. Ha!
What About Snow For The End Of The Year In Duluth?
The good news is that there is no mention of snow going into the new year, aside from some light snow today. Things can always change and quickly with the weather in our region but as of now, things look to be mild on that front. However, if you believe in the Old Farmer's Almanac, we will be seeing some next month!

And not just some - the publication is predicting another major snowstorm for our area in the later part of January. Some believe in their methodology and some do not. i just hope this is one prediction that doesn't come true but only time will tell!
