This Upscale Steakhouse Is Now The Most Expensive Restaurant In Wisconsin
They say you get what you pay for, which is largely true, because saving money isn't always worth the product or services you receive. Of course, everyone has limits on what they'll pay for something, including going out to eat.
Statistics have shown that the average American spends about $166 monthly dining out. This is an average of roughly $3,693 per year. While some spend significantly more or less, the most common range is $11-$20 per person per meal.
I guess that makes sense since sometimes I'm grabbing food on the fly and not spending much at all, while other times I go to a restaurant knowing I'll spend more for the whole experience.
How much are you willing to spend to dine out? Wouldn't it be fun to just say to heck with it, and visit the most expensive restaurants? I know the times I've decided to splurge have been worth it because the food was so good, so let's dream big.
Recently, a study was done to find the most expensive states in America, and I'm already thinking I should start saving now to visit the winner in Wisconsin.
The Most Expensive Restaurants In America
To find the most expensive restaurants in America, the team at LoveFood thoroughly searched through every state and based its picks on the priciest main course or tasting menu. They also made sure to avoid spots with just one very expensive dish.

They discovered that expensive restaurants come in all forms, from 'mahogany-filled steakhouses to seafood spots right by the ocean'. If you want to spend big on a special occasion, there are certainly some amazing places to visit in the U.S.
The Winner In Wisconsin
In Wisconsin, the most expensive restaurant was determined to be Carnevor, located at 718 N. Milwaukee Street in Milwaukee.
Billed as 'Downtown Milwaukee's Premier Dining Experience', Carvenor has been a fine dining favorite since 2006. Under the direction of Executive Chef Mario Giuliani, Carnevor features both USDA Prime and Japanese Wagyu beef as well as fresh seafood and delicious, shareable sides.
As for the prices, LoveFood notes that a favorite is the 6 oz Japanese Wagyu A-5 Filet Mignon, which is $168, but that's not the expensive item on the menu.
That honor goes to the large 14 oz "New York Strip - Muse, Carnevor State Exclusive". The menu states that this is 'Full-Blood Wagyu, BMS 9+', which is considered the highest grade. While you could share this amazing cut of beef, the menu price is currently $180.
You can also get seafood at Carnevor, including a 'Seafood Fix' that includes Alaskan king crab legs, colossal shrimp, mussels, and oysters. That is listed on the menu for Market Price.

Of course, as LoveFood Notes, the prices are just for the entrées and they do not include the sides, sauces, and fantastic toppings like foie gras or king crab that you're likely to add.
While you'll spend more eating at Carnevor, you'll likely have an amazing meal and a dining experience well worth what you paid. The reviews on Yelp are overall very positive, with more than one reviewer saying it's one of the best steak houses in the United States.
Many reviews also praise the staff for being professional, friendly, and attentive, which adds to the entire Carnevor experience. There are also plenty of raves about the drinks and desserts. Bon Appétit!
