The City of Superior's first splash pad is beginning to take shape. The project started last spring, and it appears it will be ready for next summer. Environmental and human impact studies had to be done before the project began. Once it was greenlit, contractors began digging up the area, trenching plumbing, pouring concrete, and installing fixtures. Landscaping came later.

The Splash Pad is located at Wade Bowl Park in downtown Superior. It's located next to the existing figure skating area, and near the hockey rink and warming house. The city asked for input from the community this winter.

I was walking my dog yesterday when I noticed some new fixtures were being installed. It looks like there will be a dump bucket!

The City of Superior says the splash pad will be a fun, interactive way for both kids and adults to cool off during the summer months. Which, for North End Superior, lasts from July to August (it's pretty cool by the lake until late June).

The City Council approved additional funding earlier this year, as the contractor bids were higher than the previous estimates. The city has been using unspent funds from previous budget years to finish the splash pad project.
