New Tool Helps People Find The Best Places To Fish In Wisconsin
With over 15,000 lakes,42,000 miles of perennial streams and rivers, 1,000 miles of Great Lakes shoreline, and 260 miles of the Mississippi River, Wisconsin remains a top fishing destination in the United States.
Every year, over 1 million fishing licenses are sold in Wisconsin. Reports show that approximately 741,554 resident annual fishing licenses were sold through March 2024. When combined with licenses sold to out-of-state residents, that recent total reached 1.1 million licenses.
To its credit, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is not resting on its laurels; it is continually looking for ways to improve the experience for all anglers, and a new, recently announced resource will do just that.

The Wisconsin DNR announced it has launched a new online Wisconsin Fishing Finder, which it bills as a 'comprehensive online fishing resource for anglers.'

Furthermore, information on the DNR's TROUT tool, including trout streams, regulations, and easements, is now available on the Wisconsin Fishing Finder. The DNR urges any anglers currently using TROUT to transfer their bookmarks and saved locations to the Wisconsin Fishing Finder, as the TROUT tool will be turned off at the end of May.
Justine Hasz, DNR Fisheries Management Bureau director, said, "We've created this tool to help anglers find new places to fish or get insights into their current favorite fishing spots. You can access the Wisconsin Fishing Finder by clicking the button below.
Hasz added that he hopes the easy-to-use resource will become a staple for all anglers throughout Wisconsin.
