The popular Twin Ports frozen yogurt destination Chilly Billy's has been undergoing some changes and growth in recent months, and they just announced some exciting new updates!

Last August, we got word that Chilly Billy's would be closing their two Twin Ports area locations as the owners planned to retire. This bittersweet news bummed out a lot of fans (including me) of the Duluth sweet treat destination. Fast-forward to last October, and some new owners announced they would be stepping in to keep the brand alive and carry on its local legacy. Hooray!

As the new owners took the reins of Chilly Billy's, they announced some changes would be on the horizon. Most notable of those changes would be that the original Chilly Billy's location in the Bluestone strip mall would be closed and they would move it to a new location.

The owners just shared the new location, when they plan to open, and additional exciting news about the new shop!

Where will the new Chilly Billy's location in the Twin Ports be?

While the Miller Hill Mall food court location will remain in place, the Bluestone location is set to move - but not all that far from where they were before!

The new Chilly Billy's location will be about 1/3 of a mile up Woodland Avenue at the old Duluth Vanilla Bean location, which is in the Mount Royal Center right next to Mount Royal Bottle Shoppe at 1608 Woodland Avenue.

The new location is giving the owners the opportunity to "expand the Chilly Billy's experience" with some new offerings.

What will be the new offerings at this new Chilly Billy's location?

The frozen yogurt foundation of Chilly Billy's isn't going anywhere with this move, but as company experience officer Annika Juenemann commented, “This move is not just about a change of scenery; it's about expanding the Chilly Billy's experience”.

That expansion will include a full breakfast menu that will be offered daily.

Andrew, one of the new owners of Chilly Billy's, explained the new offerings, saying "Who doesn't love breakfast?" To use their space better throughout the entire day, he said "By combining two of the best things in the world – breakfast and frozen yogurt –
we're leveraging our resources to provide our customers with more of what they love."

The breakfast menu will be served daily from 7 am to 3 pm, then the shop will pivot to their traditional frozen yogurt offerings from 3 pm to 9:30 pm.

What will be on the Chilly Billy's breakfast menu?

Company leadership says the breakfast menu was created to "cater to all tastes". It will feature traditional breakfast staples, Acai Bowls, and a "top your own waffle bar" to make your own waffle creations.

In addition to the food menu, Chilly Billy's will offer a variety of specialty drinks that include juices, local coffees, hot cocoa, and other beverages.

When will the new Mount Royal Chilly Billy's location open?

Ownership says the new location is set to open on Friday, March 29, 2024. Their day will start as noted above, with breakfast served from 7 am to 3 pm, then frozen yogurt from 3 pm to 9:30 pm.

Ownership shared that they are looking forward to hosting more events than they could at their previous location, saying game nights, trivia, and other family-friendly activities are in the works.

In addition, even more growth is on the way.

Chilly Billy's will continue to operate their Miller Hill Mall location, this new Mount Royal location, and has plans to add a third location in Superior. They say they are finalizing the details for their third location, and hope to have it ready for September of this year.

How's that for some sweet news?
