Iconic Minnesota Business Calling it Quits After 72 Years

One Minnesota business, that opened in 1952, has decided to call it quits due to "economic and market headwinds."

This closure will leave 176 Minnesotans looking for a new job, and will force the closure of eight of the company's facilities in the state. It also means that their iconic delivery trucks will be permanently parked.

Founded in Marshall, MN, Schwan's Home Delivery was a pioneer in the food delivery business, their fleet of freezer trucks, the largest in the country, once cruised around neighborhoods all over the nation delivering families with a variety of frozen foods and treats, but that will all come to an end in just over a month.

Much of the business was sold in 2018, but the Schwan family decided to keep the delivery business, it was rebranded as "Yelloh", as a nod to their yellow trucks, but the business struggled.

Yesterday, Yelloh's CEO Bernardo Santana, announced the news of the closure, saying, "It’s with heavy hearts that we made the difficult decision to cease operations of Yelloh."

The company says that many factors are at play in its decision to close, but "changing consumer lifestyles and competitive pressures" along with staffing challenges and supply chain problems were just too much for the company to continue operating.

The last day products can be purchased via Yelloh trucks will be Friday, November 8th.
