Minnesota Lottery Says $1.1 Million Gopher 5 Ticket Sold In Finlayson
The Minnesota Lottery has announced another big Gopher 5 jackpot winner. This prize has been growing steadily since April, when the last lucky player took home just over $1 million.
Biggest Jackpot in a Year
The Gopher 5 drawing is held three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This past Monday, someone hit all five numbers, winning the biggest Gopher 5 jackpot since June 2024, when $2,045,590 was claimed.
The winning numbers drawn were 6, 28, 29, 37, and 40. The prize? A whopping $1,161,960. It's the second time in just two months the Gopher 5 jackpot has topped $1 million.

Sold in Small-Town Minnesota
According to the Minnesota State Lottery, the winning ticket was sold at Petry's Bait Company in Finlayson. The small town, just north of Hinckley, has a population of about 315 people. Known as a summer destination for fishing and outdoor fun, Finlayson attracts both locals and tourists. Could the winner be a resident or just someone passing through for a weekend getaway?

Either way, someone is sitting on more than $1.1 million. That is, unless they lost the ticket in the lake while reeling in the big one. In that case, at least they’ve got a great fishing story. The winner has one year to claim their prize.
What Happens Next?
The Gopher 5 jackpot has now reset to $100,000 and will keep growing until the next jackpot winner is drawn. According to the Minnesota Lottery, the odds of hitting the jackpot (5 out of 5 numbers) are about 1 in 1.5 million, while the overall odds of winning any prize are roughly 1 in 12.
