Minnesota River Named As Top 10 Tubing Spot In US
Looking at the forecast for the coming week, Minnesota is about to get hit by an early summer heatwave, and with that, people will be looking for a way to cool off.
One way Minnesotans love to beat the heat is by finding the nearest lake or river, and the best way to enjoy a river in the summer is by floating down it on a tube.

Minnesota’s Root River Earns National Tubing Honor
One location in Minnesota is about to see a jump in tubers as it gets the national spotlight for being named one of the top 10 tubing rivers in America.
Minnesota tubing locations are often overshadowed by the popularity of the Apple River, which also made this list, but one Minnesota river that runs about 80 miles long, starting near Chatfield and joining the Mississippi River near La Crescent, is stepping out from under the shadow.

Root River Ranks #8 in USA Today List
The Root River, located in the lower southeast corner of Minnesota, not too far from Rochester, has just been named in USA Today's Reader's Choice Awards as the #8 tubing river in the U.S.
USA Today says, "With oak and hickory tree-topped bluffs gradually giving way to rolling pastures, Minnesota's Root River offers floaters a wealth of scenery."
Root River Outfitters is the company that runs the tubing business along the river. They offer rentals for tubes, canoes, and kayaks, along with a shuttle service included with all rentals.
How Other Rivers Ranked
The Root River was one of 20 rivers nominated for a spot in the Top 10. Voting wrapped up on June 2. In case you're wondering, the Apple River came in at #6, and the best tubing river in the U.S. goes to the Greenbrier River in West Virginia.
