With holiday events it always surprises me that certain ones are only up until the actual holiday.

Ones that come to mind are for example the Haunted Ship in Duluth.  It's pretty popular but it wraps up usually on Halloween.  Die-hard Halloween people see to start celebrating early and are always in Halloween mode, so why doesn't it run for a week after the holiday?

Christmas is another one, many attractions and events wrap up on or before Christmas Day, but again, it's a popular holiday, why not extend it a bit longer?

One venue is doing just that, and it's the Victorian House Museum in Superior, WI, Fairlawn Mansion.

Fairlawn in itself is pretty neat to tour when it's not the holidays and they do a great job of hosting events for the whole family year-round.  When it comes to Christmas though, they go all out with the decorating and festiveness.

On Saturday, December 30th, Fairlawn Mansion will be hosting their Old-Fashioned Christmas event once again.  Geared towards the whole family, it's rather inexpensive at only eight bucks for adults, five for senior citizens and students, and free for kids twelve and under.

The tour of the mansion is self-guided but there will also be live music, holiday treats, plenty of youth activities, plus the decorations of course.  You do need to book a time slot to be there, so make sure you do that in advance on their website.  It's a decently inexpensive way to still get into the Christmas Spirit even after the holiday is technically over.
