
History Made on Minnesota Ice This Month
LEAPS AND BOUNDS
CBS News Weekend Journal focused on the state of hockey for women over the past few years and interviewed some amazing female hockey players, including some from Minnesota, referring to them as 'history-making and Inspiring!'
The Professional Women's Hockey League reached a new goal this month, holding their first PWHL Breakthrough Cup tournament. Over 600 girls competed in the tournament.
YOUNG GIRLS ARE EXCITED
A slew of young girls talked about how inspiring the PWHL player's are to them. Many saying they want to be just like them when the grow up. You can watch the video below.

ROLE-MODELS
The PWHL players also shared their excitement about being the best role models they can be to the younger generation.
Minnesota Frost Goalie Maddie Rooney was asked what it was like for her to be at a tournament like this. Her response? "It truly puts a smile on my face. I remember when I was a youth player and I was able to connect with players older than me, so the fact that I could be that to someone younger is special."
BREAKING RECORDS
The league is breaking all kinds of attendance records for women's hockey, now surpassing one million fans attending PWHL games. Attendance is up 35%.
A hockey Mom drove her three daughters from Kansas City to attend the event, saying,"When I was growing up, I didn't have these opportunities...I just see all of these opportunities becoming like this huge pyramid of what my kid's kids will do," Heather Bushouse.
