For those of you who have been following Henry Dolan's heart transplant journey, we have an update.

The next 48 hours will be a critical time for Henry.

If you read the story that I posted last night regarding Henry's pending surgery to give him a mechanical heart that will keep him going until his miracle heart can be found, we now have an update. From my calculations, this information was provided overnight around 3 am.

There is a photo of the machine that is now Henry's new mechanical heart, which will keep him going until Henry's miracle heart arrives, posted in the latest message that his mother posted overnight.

HOPE FOR HENRY CHARLES FACEBOOK PAGE

From the 'Hope For Henry Charles' Facebook page, his mother posted this message:

'After 12 grueling hours we were reunited with Henry . I can’t even begin to tell you how the last 6 hours of that wait went. I’m not sure I’ve experienced that level of anxiety before.

The surgeon said the surgery was difficult, as he expected it would be. He had a lot of scar tissue to get through, which presented extra challenges and more bleeding.

He had an injury to his femoral artery that needed to be repaired while they were trying to cannulate him, which then led to central cannulation access.

MESSAGE CONTINUED....

We got to see him around 11:30, and he has been stable since. Praise God! As part of the neuro evaluation, they had to bring down his sedation just for a few minutes to make sure he was able to move and respond.

The best part of my day was when I started talking, he was trying so hard to open his eyes. I then asked him if he knew I was there with him, and he nodded yes. I asked him if he knew daddy was there too and he nodded yes again.😭😭😭 You might as well have just picked my heart up off the floor.

We could clearly tell he was uncomfortable by his facial expressions, so we quickly went back up on sedation, but it was so good to see my Henry was still under there....'
