Community Mourns As Remains Of Jordan Manny Collins Are Found
A sad update to a story we've been following since early June, it was announced this morning that law enforcement found remains over the weekend. After testing, the results confirmed they belonged to the missing 16-year-old Jordan 'Manny' Collins Jr.
Manny Hadn't Been Seen Since Early May
It had been nearly two months since Manny had been seen last, and the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, the Columbia Heights Police Department, the FBI, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension had been searching the Elk River Landfill since June, looking for clues.
While a news conference is scheduled for later this morning, it's presumed that Manny's remains were located at the landfill, as the statement from the Anoka County Sheriff's Office states the remains were found over the weekend.
It is with heavy hearts the Columbia Heights Police Department and Anoka County Sheriff’s Office announce that human remains were located over the weekend. After further testing, the remains were identified as Jordan (Manny) Collins, Jr. We wish to express our condolences to his mother, family, and loved ones during this tragic time.
The Midwest Medical Examiner’s will determine the cause of death. Law enforcement from the Columbia Heights Police Department, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and Federal Bureau of Investigation are continuing to investigate Manny’s death.
Local, state, and federal agencies all want to ensure that justice is served. Every available resource is being directed toward the lawful arrest of anyone responsible for Manny’s death.
A Person Of Interest In The Case
Earlier releases from the Anoka County Sheriff's Office have indicated that there is a person of interest in this case, but no other information has been released about who may be responsible for in the disapperance and death of Manny.
Hopefully, we learn more at the press conference, but something tells me it may be a while before we learn more about the tragedy that has unfolded in Columbia Heights.
