Bull Riding & Country Music Coming to ‘Taste of Osakis’ in Sept.

If you're looking for something to do with the family before the leaves start falling and summer officially fades away, Osakis is putting together a pretty impressive day of fun.

The 7th Annual 'Taste of Osakis' will be kicking off on Friday, September 11th with Bull Riding & Mutton Busting, and if you're a country music fan, they're giving you a great reason to stick around through Saturday night.

The Taste of Osakis is happening Friday & Saturday, September 11th and 12th. Besides the excitement of Bull Riding and Mutton Busting Friday, big country music stars are scheduled to hit the state Saturday night, after other activities are planned throughout the day for kids, families, sports fans, and shoppers.

GETTING STARTED EARLY

Things get started early on Saturday, with a pickleball tournament at 9 a.m. Then from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., downtown Osakis will be filled with family activities and vendors.

ALL DAY FAMILY ACTIVITIES AND FUN

Kids can get their faces painted, bounce around in a bouncy house, have balloons twisted into creations, and try out a rock climbing wall. There will also be axe throwing, a craft vendor and market show, and a RIVL Golf Simulator running until 5 p.m.

BLOOMS AND THORN BOTANICALS

If you're into plants, Bloom & Thorn Botanicals will have a succulent bar available until 6 p.m.

GAMES AND TOURNAMENTS

Basketball fans can take part in the 14 | 27 Basketball Challenge from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the O-Town Bean Bag Tournament gets underway at noon.

GREAT MUSICAL PERFORMANCES

Music will be playing throughout the day, with Andy Austin performing at noon.

CHAINSAW CARVING ALL DAY

One of the more unusual attractions will be happening with chainsaws.

Live chainsaw carving is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., giving people a chance to watch artists turn blocks of wood into works of art right in front of them. There will also be a Quick Carve from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by an auction and raffle at 4 p.m.

But the day doesn't end when the family activities wrap up.

That's when the music takes over.

EDDIE MONTGOMERY OF MONTGOMERY GENTRY PERFORMS!

Country music fans will have a pretty good reason to stick around, with Avery Anna scheduled to perform and Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry headlining the evening.

Montgomery Gentry became one of country music's most recognizable duos with hits including "My Town," "Something to Be Proud Of," "Hell Yeah" and "Where I Come From."

Eddie Montgomery has continued performing and bringing the Montgomery Gentry music to audiences since the death of his longtime musical partner, Troy Gentry, in 2017.

NEWCOMER AVERY ANNA

Avery Anna represents a much newer generation of country music. The young singer-songwriter has built a following with her emotional songs and modern country sound. Hailey James will open for Avery, and other performers include Karsten Habberstad will perform on the side stage.

If you're looking for a central Minnesota day trip that gives you a little bit of everything, Osakis might be worth putting on your calendar.

Start the morning with pickleball or chainsaw carving, do some shopping, let the kids burn off some energy, grab some food, and listen to live music.

Then stick around for a night of country music.

That's a pretty good way to spend a Saturday in September.
