There Are People Buried On This Minnesota Golf Course
It seems the golf season here in Minnesota will extend into November, at least as long as the white stuff stays away long enough. Knowing that, and knowing this week we have Halloween landing Thursday, you might want to book a round on the only golf course in Minnesota meant for Halloween play. This Minnesota golf course has a cemetery located on it! You'll want to call ahead as this course is located more than an hour from St. Cloud, in the Kolacky Capital of the World, Montgomery.
Montgomery National Golf Club, the land of which was once owned by the Burii family, features members of the aptly named Burii family buried on a portion of the land, which also happens to be the first fairway.
According to the website, findagrave.com, "Bendhict and Barbara Burii were buried on the farm; their headstones are located under a cottonwood tree just off the first fairway."
The golf course, which is in the final stages of a remodel to become the first Beatles-themed golf course in the world, boasts "water hazards on 8 holes, well-placed bunkers, wide tree-lined fairways and smooth fast greens in a beautiful rural rolling setting," according to its website.
The former clubhouse, which I don't believe is still standing now that the new clubhouse has been built, was reportedly haunted, with the TVs turning off and on by themselves.
