Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Conditional bail was set at $100,000 today for a Rochester man accused of stabbing and seriously wounding another man during a fight at a party on Wednesday.

25-year-old Santos Salgado Vasquez was formally arraigned Friday afternoon in Olmsted County Court on first and second-degree assault charges, a third-degree drug charge, and a misdemeanor domestic assault charge. The criminal complaint indicates the drug charge stems from the discovery of nearly 16 grams of suspected methamphetamine in Salgado Vasquez's possession while he was being processed into the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center following his arrest.

According to the court document, Rochester police responded to The Gates of Rochester apartment complex during the afternoon of November 1st after receiving reports of an assault. The first officer to arrive at the scene found the victim outside of the apartment complex suffering from visible stab wounds and actively bleeding. He told the officer that he had been "stabbed by Santos" and that his assailant and girlfriend were still in the apartment where the attack occurred.

The criminal charges say Salgado Vasquez's girlfriend told officers that she witnessed her boyfriend and the victim engaged in a fistfight and attempted to get in between the two men to stop the fighting, but was shoved to the ground and kicked by Salgado Vasquez. She also told police that she saw Salgado Vasquez grab a knife, and while she didn't actually witness the stabbing, she saw the victim had a large cut on his face and there was a significant amount of blood.
