Gunshot Fired During Armed Standoff in Austin, Person Surrenders
Austin, MN (KROC-AM News)- Police in Austin are reporting a gunshot was fired during a standoff on Monday afternoon.

A news release issued by the Austin Police Department says officers responded to a mental health call involving an adult male with a firearm.
The call came from a residence in the 700 block of 9th Ave. Southeast shortly before 4 p.m. Officers began negotiating with the man who was the subject of the call.
Negotiations lasted for about 2.5 hours, the news release says. During the negotiation the man fired a round from a .22 caliber rifle.
No Injuries Reported Following Gunshot During Armed Austin, MN Standoff
No injuries were reported and the man told law enforcement that the gunshot was accidental, police say. The suspect eventually surrendered to law enforcement peacefully.
Police say he was transported to the Mayo Clinic hospital in Austin for mental health and welfare treatment.
Authorities have not indicated whether or not charges will be filed in the incident. No other information has been released.
