Business Owner & Vet Announces Bid for Olmsted County Board
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The owner of a southeastern Minnesota business has announced his plan to run for a seat on the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners.

The seat became open earlier this week after Sheila Kiscaden announced her plans to step down from her post at the end of the year.
Kiscaden represented District 6 of Olmsted County for the past 12 years. The sixth district of the Olmsted County Board covers southwestern Rochester.
Earlier this week Bob Hopkins announced his intention to run for the 6th District seat on the county board.
A news release says Hopkins owns Allegra Marketing Print Mail in Rochester and Red Wing. He previously was a government executive and is a military veteran.
Hopkins said he looks forward to building upon Kiscaden’s “strong record of dedicated public service to the Olmsted and Rochester communities.”
He promises to ensure Olmsted County's projected growth is inclusive of all citizens. The campaign announcement says:
I will work with my Olmsted County Commission colleagues to ensure that our path to growth and development is open to every voice. This includes neighborhoods and businesses, underserved and immigrant communities, the healthcare community, and many others that have a stake in the outcome of Olmsted County projects, programs, and investments.

Hopkins plans to officially file his intention to run for office when the candidate filing window opens next month.
The timing of Kiscaden’s retirement announcement allows the county to avoid having to hold a special election to fill her seat, meaning the district six race will be on the ballot for this year’s Primary and General Elections.
