That’s according to a GoFundMe Fundraiser set up by a family member of the injured motorist.
Preliminary information released by the Rochester Police Department indicates an SUV hit a tree then struck the apartment at the corner of Valley High Dr. and 15th St. Northwest around 7:30 on the morning of September 3.
Police Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson said the driver was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
The fundraiser identifies the driver as Brian Cain. His family says he suffered a medical issue that caused the collision while he was driving on Valley High Rd. Northwest.
Cain suffered a severe brain injury as a result of the crash and has “not woken up yet,” the fundraiser says.
The doctors do not yet know when Cain could regain consciousness, Cain’s family says. It’s also not yet known what kind of defects or damages Cain suffered in the crash.
The fundraiser, which was started on Monday, says Cain is a father of two daughters who he co-parents and actively supports.
Cain’s family is asking for help with remaining bills and costs associated with potential long-term medical needs. A link to the fundraiser is available here.
