Murder Discovered After Eyota Crash Leads to 40 Years in Prison
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Iowa woman was given an aggravated sentence today for a murder in the Twin Cities that was discovered after a traffic crash in Olmsted County.
Thirty-three-year-old Margot Lewis was convicted of two counts of second-degree murder at the end of a trial held in Hennepin County Court in September. She was accused of murdering 35-year-old Liaria Tsai. The victim's body was found in the vehicle driven by Lewis after she was involved in a crash on I-90 at the Eyota interchange in June of last year.
Evidence From Minneapolis Apartment
According to the criminal complaint, investigators in Minneapolis then went to the victim's apartment and discovered a bloody crime scene. The court document states that a knife was missing from the apartment and that the autopsy determined the victim died from multiple sharp-force injuries.

The evidence listed against Lewis in the criminal complaint included video recorded from a security camera outside the victim's apartment. The recording shows a woman, who appears to be Lewis, driving the victim's vehicle about two hours before she was involved in the crash on I-90.
Relationship History Between Victim and Suspect
The court document also states that investigators learned the two women were previously in a relationship and that Lewis had flown from Boston to Minneapolis the day before the murder occurred.
Lewis was sentenced today to 40 years in prison.
She still faces a felony charge of interference with a dead body in Olmsted County.
