Lewiston, MN (KROC-AM News)- A rural Winona man lost his life in a crash late Wednesday morning.

He was the only person involved in the single-vehicle fatality. Winona County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jeff Mueller said the deadly crash was reported shortly before 11 a.m. 

Mueller says deputies responded to the crash in the area of Winona County Rd. 25 and County Rd. 106, which is about three miles south of Lewiston.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates the driver of a northbound car drifted across the center line, entered the ditch, catapulted after striking a field drive and rolled.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. First responders administered life saving measures but the motorist was pronounced dead at the scene, Mueller said.

He has been identified as 71-year-old Allyn Duane Ellinghuysen. The report indicates weather did not have an impact road conditions. 

Mayo One Helicopter, Lewiston Fire, Lewiston Ambulance and the Lewiston Police Department also responded to the fatal crash.
